The East Lansing Public Library Announces its December Calendar

 
EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Public Library, 950 Abbot Road, offers a wide variety of educational opportunities, programs and events to community members of all ages. The library programs and events offered in December are as follows:

DECEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Homework Help will take place at the East Lansing Public Library on Dec. 1 from 5-7 p.m. This free, drop-in tutoring program is open to grades K-8. The program is offered through the Michigan State University Student Michigan Education Association.

MSU Tax Law Clinics will be held Dec. 3 & 18 from 7-9 p.m. at the East Lansing Public Library. The clinics will help participants take advantage of tax credits to reduce income taxes. Participants can learn what tax credits they qualify for and how to use them to reduce tax payments. Both clinics will cover the same material. The clinics are free and open to the public. There is no need to register.

A Holiday Crafts program will take place at the East Lansing Public Library on Dec. 6 from 11 a.m.-noon. This special holiday program, for ages 4+, will allow young participants to make handcrafted gifts for the holiday season. Please register for this program by calling (517) 351-2420.

A Grab Bag Crafts program will take place at the East Lansing Public Library Dec. 29 from 2-3 p.m. The program, for ages 3+, will feature a craft session using leftover craft supplies at the library.

A Winter Gallery Display will take place from Dec. 1-Jan.2 in the North Foyer Gallery of the East Lansing Public Library. The December display will feature two- and three-dimensional work by local elementary school students.

DECEMBER REGULARLY OFFERED PROGRAMS

Monday Movie Matinees will be hosted by the East Lansing Public Library on Dec. 1 & 15 at 1 p.m. Free popcorn is provided while supplies last. Movies are free and intended for an adult audience only. Call (517) 351-2420 or stop by the library to find out what’s playing.

Winter StoryTime will be offered Tuesdays, 10:30-11:15 a.m.; Tuesdays, 6:30-7:15 p.m.; Thursdays, 1:30-2:15 p.m.; and Fridays, 10:30-11:15 a.m. at the East Lansing Public Library. StoryTime features stories, rhymes and a craft for ages 2-5. Note: Parents/caregivers of 2-year-olds must remain in the story time room. All other adults must remain in the library. No registration is required. *Winter StoryTime will not meet Dec. 16-Jan.2.

Winter BabyTime will be offered on Wednesdays from 10:30-11 a.m. at the East Lansing Public Library. BabyTime is a beginning story time for babies under the age of 2. Each baby must be accompanied by an adult. No siblings please. This program is free and open to the public. No registration is required. *Winter BabyTime will not meet Dec. 16-Jan. 2.

Popcorn & a Movie will take place Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. at the East Lansing Public Library. The featured film will be “Snow Buddies,” rated G, 87 minutes long. Free popcorn will be provided while supplies last. Parents/guardians of preschoolers must stay with their children. Parents/guardians of children in grades 1-2 must stay in the library.
