City of East Lansing to Open 2009-2010 Funding Cycle for Grant Applications
EAST LANSING, Mich. — Applications will be available, beginning Friday, Nov. 20, for funding under the City of East Lansing’s 2009-2010 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and the 2009-2010 General Fund Human Service Activities budget.
The City allocates grant funds on an annual basis to agencies providing direct services to residents living within the East Lansing corporate boundaries. The City has a list of priority needs in the community. Agencies that provide these services to East Lansing residents are encouraged to apply for funding. Examples of services include respite childcare, community gardening and gleaning, legal services, youth services, literacy and English as a Second Language tutoring. A list of current grantees can be found on the City's Web site, www.cityofeastlansing.com, under DEPTS/DIVISIONS, Planning & Community Development.
The City will offer a Grant Application Workshop on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. for new or returning agencies and organizations interested in applying for funding. The workshop will be held at East Lansing City Hall, 410 Abbot Road, in Conference Room A. Agencies are asked to RSVP for this workshop by calling (517) 319-6930.
The submission deadline for applications is Friday, Dec. 19 at 5 p.m. Applicants may contact the City of East Lansing Department of Planning & Community Development at (517) 319-6930 or visit www.cityofeastlansing.com to request or download an application packet.
