East Lansing Public Art Gallery to Present Painter Francie Dittrich
EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Arts Commission will reveal its latest exhibit entitled “East and West: A Journey in Color,” by local painter Francie Dittrich at the East Lansing Public Art Gallery. The exhibit will run from Nov. 2 to Dec. 4, 2008.
The public is invited to partake in an opening reception on Sunday, Nov. 2 from 1-2 p.m. on the second floor of the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road. The reception will be free to the public.
Art has filled much of the featured artist’s life. Dittrich has created art in varying mediums, from crafting personalized greeting cards in pen and ink to Micron or Sharpie marker, watercolor and acrylic paints, traditional Chinese brush painting and more. The exhibit incorporates Dittrich’s creative style through her works that compare the eastern style arts to western style arts. The exhibit will show Dittrich’s journey through the arts and will display the differences in mediums she uses.
Dittrich plans to continue her discovery of the arts. She said, “It’s a journey that when one painting ends, another beings. You never know quite where you’re going to go.”
Admission to the Public Art Gallery is free. The gallery is open during regular hours at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center. Visit the gallery Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday noon to 8 p.m.
The East Lansing Public Art Gallery supports visual arts in the community by presenting exhibitions that introduce new cultural ideas and provide personal experience with visual art in a meaningful way.
